Ellis Developments was incorporated in 1985 to exploit an artificial ligament that we designed and patented. This product, best known as the Leeds-Keio Ligament for the repair of the cruciate ligaments of the knee, is amongst the world's best selling knee replacements.

Since that product was designed, technology has moved on, including the ancient technology of textiles, the subject we specialise in.

Ellis Developments has particularly worked on the development of computerised embroidery techniques applied to both engineering and to the manufacture of textile surgical implants for applications such as the repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms in the arteries and for orthopaedics, such as ligament and tendon repair.

The company is situated within the former Nottingham City Challenge area, and is classed as a Small and Medium Sized Enterprise (SME).
